A tale of destruction and hope. A land so different than what the human mind is accustomed to process, taking away any anchor of reality and enforcing total surrender to the power of nature.
Lanzarote was forever changed in 1730 by continouous volcanic eruptions for a period of 6 years, swallowing big part of the island along it’s inhabited towns and villages. In a brief moment everything that existed before was gone forever. Even though the volcanoes are now classed as dormant, one can still feel the heat under the surface of Timanfaya.
It is incredible to see how it’s residents have found a beautiful way to coexist with this powerful force of nature.
Truly inspiring landscape!
